Mr.

began working with computers as a programmer of custom systems
for evaluation of biological data on PDP 11/70 systems and
card decks.
In
1980 he joined ComputerLand Corporation, franchisor of the
first computer stores and a giant in the industry in the
80s. He began as the Manager of Technical Services,
and later became Products Director, responsible for all
product support services, product evaluation, world-wide
contract negotiations, and product marketing programs. After
serving as Vice President of Franchise Development, he left
the company in 1985 to own and operate three franchise ComputerLand
stores in Sacramento, California.
After
selling the franchise stores in 1986, he started and operated
a successful computer training and custom software business,
Insight Computers, which was sold in 1989. He then started
and operated Desktop Publishing Services, a service bureau
for graphics and marketing, which were sold in 1991.
In
January of 1992 Mr. Mandel started Technology Transfer,
Inc., which was begun as a manufacturers rep firm
to introduce software from US manufacturers to international
markets. The company moved into the international licensing
and distribution of multimedia and gaming software products
in the early days of the industry. The company represents
software developers from Europe, Asia and North America,
and helps them to develop and increase their international
business, currently selling to republishers in all the markets
of Europe and North America.
